Tamar Berman: Research and Publications |

Tamar Berman is a researcher working in the field of Music Information Retrieval (MIR). Tamar has recently completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the International Music Information Retrieval Systems Evaluation Laboratory (IMIRSEL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She holds a Ph.D. degree in music from Northwestern University, a Master of Business Administration from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology and a B.Sc. in Information Systems Engineering, from the Technion's Computer Science Department. Tamar has worked as a Business Systems Analyst and in this capacity designed many information systems for financial and public organizations. She has taught courses in Music Technology and Information Systems. In her current research, which focuses on musical pattern retrieval, Tamar employs methods practiced in Information Technology, such as data mining and SQL. Next to her research, Tamar is a mezzo soprano vocalist. She performs as a soloist and in ensembles.
