Schubert Links by Gidon Berman

Top 4 Comprehensive sites, ranking by Google

  1. Franz Schubert at Classical Music pages by Matt Boynick. Includes a biography extracted from the Grove Concise Dictionary of Music with permission, sound files (MP3 and WAV) of the nine symphonies, a picture gallery with four pictures, a minimal introduction to the Deutsch catalogue and a link to a bibliography which did not work at the time I visited the site
  2. The Secrets behind Franz Schubert by Kristofer Andréasson. Contains a biography, some audio files (MIDI), discussions of the Unfinished Symphony and other compositions, as well as an option to leave feedback (which is later analyzed) and some links. Funny feature: a trout crossing your screen, after Schubert's Forelle. Also available in German and Spanish
  3. Classical Net Franz Peter Schubert, by Dave Lampson. Provides two midi samples, recommended biographies and scores, major works, recordings and reviews, as well as a few links to other Schubert sites. Dave Lampson, a great music lover and Internet pioneer, recommended warmly on a Duo Beer Sheva Schubert CD in one of his early documents
  4. Notes on Franz Schubert by Bart Berman. This site is ranked number four in a free Franz Schubert search on Google. We thank you for your trust and feel rewarded for our efforts
